You’ll find beautiful murals, oversized installations, inflatable sculptures, a block party and more at this year’s lively Yorkville Murals (YVM) festival.
This year’s theme is No Empty Spaces, and the free annual event will see artists including Ness Lee, Ben Johnston, Jordan Sook, and Julia Monson transform over 50,000-square-feet of space in Yorkville over the last weekend of August.
At Yorkville Village, there will be an art installation by Canadian artist Jordan Sook in The Oval. “Natural Selection,” an eight-foot sphere made using basketballs, explores “the inherent human desire to reach new heights and pursue personal and collective elevation.”
Between August 26–27, 2023, you can expect to find everything from a larger-than-life hopscotch game and free mini-golf to live painting by local and international artists like Dalkhafine and Elvis Mourao on Yorkville Avenue and Bellair Street. At 99 Yorkville Avenue, there will be new work by seven muralists on display, a moderated discussion from the Cry Baby project, and more.
Book tickets online now at yorkvillemurals.com to attend the Cumberland Parkade Block Party on Saturday, August 26th from 5pm –11pm, which will include music, art sculptures, live painting and more.
